11th January – 14th June

Scottish law requires that any fish caught before 1st April must be returned to the water, including dead fish.

Only single hooked, or tube flies with a single hook, are to be used, with a size not greater than 2/0.

15th June – 30th September

Single, double and tube flies to be used with a hook size not greater than size No 2.

Best practice recommends single hooks are used whenever possible.

Large double hooks should have their barbs crimped with pliers.

Throughout the Season

Treble hooks are not to be permitted at any time.

All Sea-Trout must be returned.

It is an offence by local Bylaw to fish on any Kyle of Sutherland River using any other method apart from by “fly-only”.

Best practice recommends fishing should cease if water temperature exceed 18° C (65°F).
